Bob has been in broadcasting virtually his whole life, starting on Radio City from the Offshore Forts off the coast of his native Whitstable. When the Pirates closed he joined SERED an electronics and recording company whilst picking up freelance work at BBCRadio Medway. Late in the day Radio Caroline showed interest, but before he could join the ships were towed away. On Radio Caroline’s return he was invited to make some recorded programmes which were produced by Andy Oldfield. Running his own Commercial Production unit, Entertainment Production Services he joined the BBC again as a freelance at Radio Kent. Whilst still at the BBC he again became involved again with Radio Caroline as part of what was in radio circles universally known as ‘The Whitstable Navy’ from 1983 – 1990.
Moving from the BBC to ILR Bob spent many happy years at the Kent ILR Invicta Radio, programming, producing and presenting Drive Time, additionally fitting in a weekly show for Radio Fax in Ireland. Events changed as Invicta was taken over a number of times, Bob jumped ship to set-up his own station Medway FM the last UK ILR and helped gain licences for Thanet Local Radio, Neptune Radio and CTFM whilst also presenting at Channel Travel Radio.
During the 1990’s Bob was invited to present programmes on Radio London and RadioNorthsea International when they returned from ships off the Essex coast. He produced weekly programmes for network Juke Box Memories an ILR sustaining service, then worked at European Klassic Rock, re-joining Radio Caroline from the Maidstone TV Studios. For over a year Bob was the voice of Virgin Radio’s top of the hour commercial. He also made programmes for Radio Seagull and the Voice of Peace. When Medway FM was sold Bob worked for DMG Radio then GWR before venturing overseas to Malta to run Calypso FM taking the station from the bottom of the league to number two.

Chris Liebing
Show Title: CLR Podcast
Schedule: Thursday 12pm to 1pm UK time
Chris Liebing is synonymous with techno. His legacy is long assured, but his craft never stops evolving. Whether as label head, podcast curator, DJ or producer, he continues to challenge himself and his audience to explore new realms in the electronic world. And often ahead of the curve, too, from the early, hard-edged and loopy 90s sound which is back en vogue today, through his more stripped-back turn of the millennium minimalism and onto the cinematic atmospheres and broader alternative electronica of his latest albums on Mute. It's no stretch to say, then, that Chris Liebing's story is closely connected to the story of techno itself.
Liebing is considered a global techno ambassador, but his ambitious album projects and direct club tracks excite and innovate as much as any new school star. A proudly forward-thinking attitude ensures that is the case as his DJ tools and studio setup constantly evolve. He continues to be an early adopter of emerging technology, too, just as he was with vinyl controllers, Traktor and when leading the way with full hybrid/live DJing.
These days, Liebing incorporates an ever wider sphere of sound into his own work. After an eight-year break from full lengths, 2018's Burn Slow on Mute was a creative rebirth that received critical acclaim and confounded all expectations. It was a melancholic mediation on gothic moods, looming apocalyptic landscapes and optimistic broken-beat techno that drew from his childhood love of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and the New Romantic movement.
Remixes for Depeche Mode and Goldfrapp followed alongside a collaborative single with Charlotte De Witte, and 2021 brought a second album on Mute, Another Day. It found Liebing exploring all new ways of expressing both his euphoric and melodic side, all with high-grade technical skill and meticulous sonic craft with a range of collaborators from Miles Cooper Seaton to Polly Scattergood. This exceptional form continued into 2023 as he returned to the club with his Love Those Who Fight With Passion And Faith EP on CLR, a passionate and politically charged call to the dance floor that joined Liebing and Luke Slater’s remix of Depeche Mode’s iconic ‘Ghosts Again’ in the first half of the year.
Born in Giessen and active ever since the 1990s, Liebing has always platformed the talent around him as much as himself: a long time before they were commonplace, he famously helmed his own CLR podcast. For many years, it was the scene's most influential series, with a who's who of international pioneers at the helm. After that came the equally important AM/FM radio show, but now following a hiatus, the CLR podcast is back and pushing a fresh techno agenda, as is his iconic label of the same name.
In its first chapter, CLR stood for Chris Liebing Records, then Create Learn Realize, and now Create Learn Repeat - a subtle evolution that is at the heart of everything Liebing does. The label will always be synonymous with exciting techno and is now back hosting parties and festival stages.
Though his music is underpinned by pulsating menace and a stomping sense of drama, Liebing himself is friendly with a famous smile. It is the music that motivates him and the freedom that comes with increased experience. These days there are no limits, no expectations, but a continued love for the art and craft of techno that is taking him down all new creative pathways.
Cristian Varela
Show Title: The Cristian Varela Show
Schedule: Thursday 6pm to 7pm UK time
Originally gaining DJ fame for playing standout techno sets on four vinyl turntables, many do not realise Cristian Varela is also a successful composer scoring soundtracks for film, theatre and television. He has even recorded a symphonic album at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London. Techno is always evolving and like the genre, Cristian has moved with the times. In 2018 he plans to relaunch his "Black Codes Experiments" project, which originally started in 2003 is a return to his roots with a series of gigs and vinyl only releases featuring artists such as Regis, Mark Broom, Shufflemaster, Tensal, Abstract Division, Exium and Arnaud Le Texier, amongst others. When talking about Cristian Varela's roots, longstanding fans of the Techno genre will need little introduction for his seminal remixes of artists such as Ben Sims and Speedy J, and although he has spent many years leaving in London, he has never forgotten his humble roots. Often returning to Spain to give guest talks at many of the country's leading music schools and colleges. More than just a remix artist, Cristian Varela has released numerous solo EP's on labels ranging from Carl Cox's Intec to his own Pornographic Recordings, and although the relaunch of his Black Codes Experiments imprint will draw some of attention from Pornographic Recordings, it will not stop the label from continuing to feature new music from the likes of The Advent, Ken Ishii, Gary Beck, Marco Bailey, UMEK, and many more. Also planned for 2018 will be the premiere of a special documentary film celebrating Cristian Varela's 25 year career in music, which features testimonials and commentary from friends and colleagues including Carl Cox, Chris Liebing and Joseph Capriati, plus numerous others who have been instrumental in his career. With a gig schedule that takes him all over the world, for those who are patient, you should be able to catch Cristian in your home city or country. For those who need a more regular dose of his music selections, you can catch his weekly radio show that's syndicated in Europe, USA, South America and Asia via more than 100 specialised techno stations in more than 50 countries. Taking into account all of the above, it comes as no surprise Cristian Varela has won more than 40 awards including "Best Worldwide Techno DJ" at the DJ Awards in 2007 and again in 2013.

Ori Uplift
Show Title: Uplifting Only
Schedule: 8pm to 10pm UK time
Harpaul Alberto Kohli (better known as Ori Uplift) — the owner and CEO of Abora Recordings and host of the weekly Uplifting Only radio podcast on DI.fm, iTunes, & Spotify — was born in Washington, DC, in 1980, to a father from India and a mother from Ecuador. In 2010 he started up a trance project called Trance Tehillim. In part through that he became friends with the then-owner of Abora Recordings, who ended up giving him the entire Abora label in the summer of 2012. Ori took over and became owner and CEO.
Upon taking over ownership, Ori’s goal was to grow the orchestral/emotional uplifting genre, create another scene for it outside the club world, and bring it to a large and growing audience across the globe. He focused on recruiting talented staff, finding orchestral uplifting artists with much potential, and to have the staff and 'talent coaches' help develop the artists’ skills so that they could become top producers.
Since then, Abora has blossomed into the world's top label for orchestral emotional uplifting trance, and has sprouted successful sublabels in many other trance genres, now totalling 13 labels/sublabels, including Edge EDM, Driftmoon Audio, Silent Shore Records, Levitated Music, and more. It was rated the world’s #8 trance label in the Trance Podium 2014 Awards and was listed as one of the 6 best trance labels by Trance for Infinity.
Abora has enjoyed success in the broader EDM music world too: Since 2012, Abora has won the Future Favourite on Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance 13 times, more than any label except Armin's Armada itself.
Meanwhile, Ori’s weekly Uplifting Only radio podcast, which aims to be the definitive and leading show for the orchestral uplifting genre, has developed a devoted and passionate fan base.
Further, Uplifting Only was rated the #8 "Best Radioshow/Podcast/Cloudcast" in the Trance Podium 2014 Awards, and was ranked one of the top five trance podcasts for working out by Trance Hub (ranking first for yoga and Pilates).
Ori’s success has now started extending to live gigs: He has closed for Aly & Fila, has performed with vocalists Caro Sosa and Erika Faries, and was the “Main Headliner” at the 2015 Trancervatory festival in Ecuador.
Ori has also ranked well on the Beatport charts. Two of his mix compilations based on his Uplifting Only show reached the #1 spot on the Beatport release charts (trance and chillout), and two more have reached #2 on the trance charts. A total of 7 of his mix-comps or mixes have reached the top 5 on the Beatport charts.
It’s no surprise that Trance Hub named him one of six "Artists to watch out for". You'll be seeing more and more of him as he focuses on uplifting the general public with beautiful euphoric uplifting melodies and sounds!
